Assumptions:
[Strategic Design, Architecture or Intention follows the SMILE Taxonomy: Assumptions -Values - Vision Purpose Guiding Principles Strategic Objectives Key Success Factors Goals Standards]
· There are four basic dimensions of human experience:
o Personal
o Business
o Network
o Soul
· Consequently there are four concurrent streams of learning occurring
· Life is holographic rather than linear
· Fractals comprise total reality and can not be fractured
· Simplicity is critical, however only in the context of systems
· Attempts to fracture reality lead to problem-generating solutions
· Underlying structures form patterns of behavior
· Changes in structure result from interactions with experience
· Most of our experience is created through our structures
· Generative change occurs through changes in structure rather than behavior
· Behavioral change is often single loop learning
· Structural change occurs through double loop learning
· Changes in beliefs that support structure occur as triple loop transformation
· COACH2 focuses on designing conversations rather than designing change
· Coaching uses a model like COACH2 as leverage for designing interactions
· Coaching can be seen as the fundamental interaction leading to triple loop learning
· COACH2 coaching involves learning at all three levels:
o Single loop doing things better performance
o Double loop doing things different or doing different things change
o Triple loop -- being different transformation
· People learn when they want to
· Motivation to learn comes from needs that have led to an opening in structures
· Everyone is on a journey
· Success and happiness are determined intrinsically and not extrinsically
Values:
o awareness
o purpose
o competence
o well-being
Vision:
Now
The BCDS is created as a structure underlying an exploration into four dimensions of experience encountered by the professional business coach. These dimensions of experience occur simultaneously in four dimensions: personal, business, networks, spirit).
Near:
Understanding clearly that these dimensions are inextricably linked to one another and that movement in one creates movement of sorts in the others is critical to understanding the nature of complex adaptive systems and how they function. A hologram provides a metaphor for understanding the relevance of any one piece of reality (fractal) at any one point in time. This fractal contains all the components of the hologram such that it is impossible to fragment reality by reducing it, deconstructing it or fracturing it.
This critical structure of belief is the essential step in viewing reality as a living system capable of re-generation rather than seeing it only as entropic in nature. When we coach a person, we coach a persons systems, their network of relationships, the business system that are functioning within and of course attend to the needs of their connection with and to soul.
Far:
To achieve coaching mastery requires practice, experience, learning and compassion. We seek to work on not in, yet fully realizing that we are part of the field of potentiality and our presence in the field affects the field. We do not own the field, we participate with a beginners mind developed through detachment and purpose. We become whole when we become that which we seek in our soul. We as coaches are most effective when the person being coached realizes themselves.
Purpose:
To use the BCDS to create multiple learning streams focused on four essential dimensions of experience, conversation and interaction: personal, business, network and soul.
Guiding Principles:
o Emotional Intelligence is key to personal and business success
o You are being paid what you are worth
o Your life is consistent with your beliefs
o Our being is largely plastic in terms of ability to change
o Purpose is attractive
o Well-being stems from our own notions of reality
o Success in world-class business requires high degrees of emotional intelligence
o Helping enough other people get what they want, provides everything you want
o People are where they are, coach from there
o Understand things in terms of systems
o Seek to surface underlying structures creating patterns of behavior
o Use all three loops of experience and learning concurrently
o Performance-change-transformation
o Attach yourself to purposeful action, detach from outcomes
o Preview outcomes in an attempt to take more purposeful actions
o Coach through openings not gaps
o Life is a universal field of potentiality however few people grasp that conceptually
o Stuff Happens, accept that and stay on purpose
o View reality in business in terms of now, near and far vision
